What is Virtual IOP?

Virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a level of mental healthcare that is more intensive than traditional weekly therapy. When symptoms are pronounced, recurring, & disruptive to everyday life, a higher cadence of treatment is often needed to improve quality of life. Treatment is delivered to clients directly in the comfort of their own home, with highly specialized care that’s specifically geared to each client’s needs, that provides the proper skills, support, accountability, and motivation needed to see clinically significant results. By receiving the right care at a higher cadence, clients gain greater adherence to treatment.

The goal of IOP is to help people manage their mental health and achieve lasting recovery while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.

Grouport provides online group therapy, online individual therapy, online couples therapy, online family therapy, online teen therapy, online intensive outpatient program (IOP), —all held virtually over video chat. We also offer a DBT self-guided program, which gives you lifetime access to a self-paced DBT program with therapist-guided lessons and practical exercises you can complete on your own time.

Many members combine multiple therapy types, such as group + individual therapy, to best fit their needs. You can choose from a variety of flexible plans, with options for multiple sessions per week and different therapy types simultaneously to create the right plan for you.

We offer flexible therapy options, including group, individual, couples, and family therapy. Our pricing is based on a flat monthly rate for consistency. However, since months have an average of 4.33 weeks, some months will have 4 sessions, while others will have 5 sessions at no extra cost.

This means that in months with 5 sessions, your per-session cost is even lower, giving you extra value!

Will my therapist treat what I say as confidential?

Yes — everything you share in therapy is kept strictly confidential.

At Grouport, all therapists are licensed professionals and are bound by the same confidentiality laws and ethical standards as in-person therapists. That means your sessions are private, and what you discuss will not be shared with anyone else.

The only exceptions to this are rare and legally mandated — such as if you express a serious, imminent intent to harm yourself or someone else. In those specific situations, your therapist is required to notify the appropriate authorities to ensure safety.

Aside from these extreme circumstances, nothing you say in therapy will be shared without your consent. If you have any concerns about privacy or confidentiality, your therapist will be happy to walk you through their legal obligations to confidentiality at the start of care.

Does Grouport take insurance?

Why no insurance?
While many people assume therapy is fully covered by insurance, the reality is that coverage is often limited or partial, and depends heavily on your specific plan. Some plans only reimburse therapy after you’ve met a high deductible, or may restrict the number or duration of sessions covered.

We can however provide you with detailed invoices that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. The reimbursement amount will vary based on your plan, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your eligibility.

Unlike insurance-based therapy, Grouport doesn’t require a diagnosis, medical records, or clinical justifications to access care. Many insurance plans only cover therapy if there’s a diagnosed mental health disorder — and may require your therapist to submit treatment plans or progress notes. At Grouport, your care stays between you and your therapist — giving you more privacy, more control, and faster access to support.
