What are the most common reasons couples seek online couples therapy?

Online couples therapy is designed to support every type of relationship, whether partners are dating, newly engaged, or have been married for years. Many couples reach out not only during times of conflict but also to strengthen communication and nurture their bond.

  • Identifying and improving unhealthy communication patterns
  • Navigating difficult or vulnerable topics with support from a therapist
  • Rebuilding trust — including healing after infidelity
  • Exploring sexual desires, boundaries, and unmet needs
  • Developing healthy conflict resolution strategies
  • Learning how to navigate mental health conditions and provide support
  • Managing life transitions or external stressors affecting the relationship
  • Clarifying roles, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Addressing how family dynamics influence the partnership
  • Improving communication around finances and money management
  • Prioritizing quality time and shared experiences
  • Setting long-term goals and planning for the future together

Should I seek couples counseling?

A common misunderstanding is that counseling is only for couples on the verge of separation or divorce. In reality, therapy can benefit couples at every stage, even those who simply want to maintain a healthy and positive dynamic. Just as people go to the gym to stay in shape, couples can turn to therapy to keep their relationship strong and resilient.

Some of the most frequent issues that bring couples into counseling include:

  • Couples who continue to face the same recurring disagreements and cannot seem to arrive at a healthy or lasting solution together.
  • Couples who are working through the pain of a recent tragedy, struggles with substance abuse, challenges caused by infidelity, or ongoing concerns related to mental health.
  • Couples who are actively trying to rebuild their intimacy, whether by restoring their sexual connection or rekindling their romantic bond.

What are the most common issues for couples going to therapy?

Couples counseling is designed to provide valuable support for couples at any stage of their relationship, whether they are dating, engaged, or married. The reasons couples choose to begin counseling are varied and can include, but are certainly not limited to

  • Identifying unhealthy communication patterns
  • Exploring intimate and vulnerable topics with the help of a therapist
  • Rebuilding trust issues in a relationship
  • Discussing sexual desires, needs, and boundaries
  • Building conflict resolution skills
  • Navigating significant life transitions and stressors impacting a couple
  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities within a relationship
  • Exploring family influence on a partnership
  • Improving financial management skills and discussions
  • Prioritizing quality time through shared interests and activities
  • Planning for the future and creating long-term goals

Does couples therapy mean the relationship is over?

For most couples, therapy serves as a means of strengthening their bond rather than a step toward ending it. Making the choice to seek care demonstrates a meaningful commitment to building a happier, more fulfilling, and more satisfying relationship together.

During each session, couples have the opportunity to work through current challenges, stop conflicts from escalating, or simply check in during times of transition or heightened stress. The role of the therapist is to provide effective tools, remain impartial, and create a safe and supportive environment where couples can hold constructive conversations about the issues that matter most to their relationship.

How does the cost of Grouport’s online couples therapy compare to elsewhere?

At Grouport, our goal is to provide therapy that is both affordable and accessible to everyone. Our pricing structure remains well below the national average in the United States. Over time, your costs balance out because some months include four sessions while others may include five sessions at no additional charge, since the calendar averages 4.33 weeks per month.

No, we do not currently accept insurance because we operate out of network. Our priority is to make couples counseling and mental health services as affordable as possible. A 45-minute couples counseling session with us costs $123, which is lower than the typical U.S. range of $150 to $250 per session.

If you wish, we can provide invoices for every billing cycle. You may submit these to your insurance provider to seek out-of-network reimbursement. The reimbursement amount depends on your individual insurance plan, so it is recommended to confirm details with your provider.
