How do I know if online individual therapy is right for me?

Online individual therapy provides a private, one-on-one setting to focus on whatever mental health challenges you may be experiencing. It can help with both everyday stress and more complex issues and is fully accessible from your home.

You might benefit from therapy if you're:

  • Experiencing anxiety, sadness, stress, or emotional stagnation
  • Going through life transitions, relationship difficulties, or work pressures
  • Working to strengthen coping strategies, boost self-esteem, or establish personal boundaries
  • Living with conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, BPD, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, or PMDD
  • Facing grief, anger, trauma, insomnia, or struggles with substance use
  • Navigating family conflict, chronic illness, or narcissistic abuse
  • Simply seeking a safe, supportive environment to reflect, grow, and reconnect with yourself

You do not need to be in crisis to begin therapy. Many use it to maintain emotional balance, work on personal development, and manage symptoms over time. A licensed therapist will create a care plan tailored to your needs, supporting you through symptom management, emotional support, or both.

What are the benefits of Grouport’s online Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and teens?

The online IOP at Grouport provides an in-depth, high-touch approach to care for individuals requiring more support than weekly therapy, without requiring them to pause their lives. We maintain separate IOP tracks for teens and adults to ensure that each person receives care tailored to their developmental stage and individual requirements.

1) Treats a wide range of mental health challenges

Grouport’s online IOP helps those managing complex or co-occurring mental health conditions. For both teens and adults, our therapists specialize in providing care for:

  • Anxiety, panic, and phobias
  • Depression and mood disorders (e.g., bipolar)
  • ADHD
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • PTSD and trauma
  • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) & Personality Disorders
  • Grief and loss
  • Substance use concerns
  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation
  • Life transitions, identity challenges, and more

2) Built on evidence-based treatment modalities

The IOP at Grouport incorporates a combination of therapy types across group and individual formats, providing comprehensive and personalized care. These include:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Mindfulness-based techniques
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Family therapy support (when appropriate)

3) Group support creates connection and accountabilit

Group therapy is a cornerstone of the IOP experience. These sessions build connection, lessen feelings of isolation, and create opportunities for learning and growth with peers who face similar struggles. Members gain both expert guidance and support from others in the program.

4) Fully online and designed to fit your life

Flexible scheduling and multiple session times, including evenings, allow our virtual IOP to provide structured, intensive support without interfering with work, school, or family responsibilities. Sessions are fully accessible from home, eliminating the need for travel or disruption.

Whether for adults or teens in need of a higher level of care, Grouport’s online IOP delivers structured, expert-guided treatment that is convenient, effective, and designed around your personal needs.

How does virtual IOP work at Grouport?

Grouport’s virtual IOP program offers structured care led by licensed therapists in a fully online environment. It provides more intensive support than weekly therapy while eliminating the need for inpatient treatment.

Separate IOP tracks are available for adults and teens to ensure that each participant receives age-appropriate care designed for their life stage.

Here is how the program works:

  • Weekly Schedule: Participants attend nine group sessions and one individual session weekly via secure video chat to make participation easy and safe.
  • Tailored Treatment: Each participant’s care plan is customized. ERP is offered for OCD, while DBT is provided for BPD treatment.
  • Expert-Led & Evidence-Based: Licensed therapists conduct sessions using evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, and ERP when clinically indicated.
  • Skill Building + Peer Support: Therapy combines structured skill development with peer support to enhance accountability and emotional growth.
  • Flexible Access: You can select any nine group sessions each week that match your schedule, including evening options. Individual sessions are also scheduled at convenient times.
  • Ongoing Guidance: Care coordinators ensure appropriate therapist and group placement and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

This virtual IOP from Grouport is ideal for individuals who require a higher level of care or are facing intense symptoms, while still offering the flexibility to follow a normal daily routine from home.

How do I know if Grouport’s virtual IOP is right for me or my loved one?

Grouport’s virtual Intensive Outpatient Program is intended for adults and teens seeking a higher level of support than standard weekly therapy can provide. Many participants are transitioning from inpatient, residential, or hospital-based care, or they require frequent, structured sessions to address serious mental health challenges or stressful life events.

Unlike standard outpatient therapy, Grouport’s IOP provides multiple sessions each week to offer consistent, in-depth support. Each participant attends nine group sessions and one individual session weekly, all conducted securely through video chat.

Treatment plans are customized for each client. ERP may be offered for OCD, while DBT is prioritized for those with BPD. Licensed therapists use evidence-based techniques such as CBT, DBT, ERP, and mindfulness practices tailored to the participant’s clinical needs and goals.

For anyone seeking more intensive support while maintaining their daily life, Grouport’s virtual IOP offers expert-led, flexible, and fully accessible care from home.

Will my therapist treat what I say as confidential?

Everything you discuss during therapy is kept completely private. Grouport therapists are licensed professionals who follow the same laws and ethical standards regarding confidentiality as in-person therapists. This ensures your sessions remain secure and private.

The only time your information may be shared is in rare, legally required circumstances, such as if you express a serious, imminent risk of harm to yourself or another person. In these cases, your therapist must contact the relevant authorities to maintain safety.

Outside of these specific situations, nothing you say will be shared without your consent. Your therapist will review confidentiality guidelines with you at the start of care to answer any questions.

How much does Grouport online individual therapy cost?

The cost of Grouport’s individual online therapy sessions is $112 per session. If you schedule four sessions per month, the monthly billing totals $448, based on multiplying $112 by four sessions each month. This makes our individual therapy rates very competitive. By comparison, outside of Grouport, a 45-minute individual therapy session in the United States is typically priced between $150 and $200 per session.

What are the payment options for individual therapy?

You can choose to pay your online therapy:
Monthly – Standard rate, billed every month.
Quarterly (Save 10%) – Billed every 3 months.
Biannually (Save 20%) – Billed every 6 months.

Your plan will automatically renew based on the schedule you set. Some plans allow weekly or every-other-week sessions depending on your requirements and availability.

How does the cost of Grouport’s therapy compare to elsewhere?

Our mission is to ensure that therapy is both affordable and accessible. Grouport offers rates that are far lower than the U.S. average. Costs are averaged over time, with months sometimes including four sessions and other months including five sessions at no extra cost due to the fact that the average month spans about 4.33 weeks.

Individual Therapy: Averages $103 per session ($448/month) (vs. $150-$200 per session elsewhere)

💡 Even More Savings:

  • Extra discounts when adding more sessions per week.

Pay quarterly (save 10%) or biannually (save 20%) for even lower rates

Do you take insurance for online individual therapy?

No, we do not take insurance currently as Grouport is considered out of network. To make therapy accessible, individual 45-minute sessions are priced at $112, which is below the U.S. average range of $150 to $200 per session.

Invoices can be issued for each billing cycle, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. The exact reimbursement amount will depend on your insurance provider’s rules, so it is important to check with them directly.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my billing at any time?

Yes! You have the ability to change your plan whenever necessary. Whether that involves adding sessions, reducing sessions, or changing your billing cycle, all updates take effect immediately.

✅ Upgrading your plan

  •  Adding more sessions per week (e.g., 1 session/week → 2 sessions/week).
  • Switching to a longer billing cycle (e.g., Monthly → Quarterly).
  • You’ll be charged a prorated difference based on the time remaining in your current plan.

✅ Downgrading your plan

  •    Reducing the number of sessions per week (e.g., 3 sessions/week → 1 session/week).
  •    Switching to a shorter billing cycle (e.g., Quarterly → Monthly).
  •    This will result in a credit applied to your next renewal.

How do I cancel online individual therapy?

You are able to cancel your subscription at any time, though you must finish out the billing period you are currently on. Email support@grouporttherapy.com to receive a form that needs to be completed to cancel your family’s membership. Your membership will only be recognized as canceled once this form is submitted. Until that happens, your subscription remains active. This ensures services end at the conclusion of the current billing period.

No long-term commitment – cancel whenever you need.
Full access through your last billing period after canceling.
