What are the benefits of Grouport’s online Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and teens?

Grouport’s online IOP program offers an intensive and comprehensive level of care for individuals needing more than weekly therapy, while allowing life to continue normally. Separate tracks for teens and adults ensure that care is tailored to the specific developmental stage and unique needs of each individual.

1) Treats a wide range of mental health challenges

This program supports people dealing with complex or co-occurring mental health conditions. Whether the care is for yourself or a teen, our therapists specialize in treating:

  • Anxiety, panic, and phobias
  • Depression and mood disorders (e.g., bipolar)
  • ADHD
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • PTSD and trauma
  • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) & Personality Disorders
  • Grief and loss
  • Substance use concerns
  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation
  • Life transitions, identity challenges, and more

2) Built on evidence-based treatment modalities

Our IOP integrates different types of therapy across individual and group sessions to deliver thorough, personalized care. These include:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Mindfulness-based techniques
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Family therapy support (when appropriate)

3) Group support creates connection and accountabilit

Group therapy is a primary component of the IOP. These sessions foster meaningful connections, reduce isolation, and offer opportunities to grow alongside others who face comparable challenges. Members benefit from expert guidance while also gaining perspective and encouragement from peers.

4) Fully online and designed to fit your life

Our virtual IOP allows for flexible scheduling and a variety of time slots, including evening options, so that structured, intensive support is available while managing work, school, or family duties. All sessions are accessible from home, eliminating the need for travel.

Grouport’s online IOP provides adults and parents of teens with structured, expert-led treatment that is effective, convenient, and designed to address individual needs.

How does virtual IOP work at Grouport?

The virtual IOP at Grouport offers structured, therapist-led care through a fully online experience, giving participants more support than standard weekly therapy while avoiding inpatient treatment.

Separate IOP tracks for adults and teens allow each participant to receive care that is tailored to their age and personal needs.

Here is how the program works:

  • Weekly Schedule: Nine group sessions and one individual session are scheduled each week, all delivered via secure video chat for ease of participation.
  • Tailored Treatment: Treatment plans are fully personalized. ERP is included for those with OCD, and DBT is provided for participants with BPD.
  • Expert-Led & Evidence-Based: Sessions are led by licensed therapists using methods supported by clinical research, including CBT, DBT, and ERP when applicable.
  • Skill Building + Peer Support: Therapy sessions mix practical skill-building exercises with peer interaction, offering accountability and support for emotional development.
  • Flexible Access: Participants select any nine group sessions weekly that work for their schedule, including evening options. Individual sessions are arranged at convenient times.
  • Ongoing Guidance: Care coordinators ensure proper placement in groups and with therapists and adjust plans as participant needs evolve.

Grouport’s virtual IOP is built for individuals facing intense symptoms or in need of an advanced level of care, providing the flexibility to participate while maintaining normal routines from home.

How do I know if Grouport’s virtual IOP is right for me or my loved one?

The virtual Intensive Outpatient Program at Grouport is designed to support adults and teens who need a level of care beyond traditional once-weekly therapy. Many clients have recently moved from inpatient or residential care, or they are seeking frequent and structured sessions to address serious mental health issues or major life challenges.

Grouport’s IOP differs from standard outpatient therapy by offering multiple sessions each week to provide comprehensive and consistent support. Participants join nine group therapy sessions and one individual session per week, all delivered securely online via video chat.

Care is individualized based on each participant’s needs. ERP may be provided for OCD, while DBT is emphasized for BPD. Licensed therapists employ evidence-based methods, including CBT, DBT, ERP, and mindfulness practices, depending on what is clinically most suitable.

For anyone seeking more intensive support while continuing their daily routine, Grouport’s virtual IOP offers flexible, accessible, and expert-guided care from the comfort of home.

Will my therapist treat what I say as confidential?

Yes, what you share in therapy is completely confidential. Grouport therapists are licensed professionals bound by the same ethical and legal confidentiality requirements as in-person therapists, keeping your sessions private.

The only exceptions are rare and legally required, such as if you express a serious, imminent threat to yourself or another person. In these cases, the therapist is required to alert the authorities to protect safety.

Outside of these rare situations, your information will not be shared without your consent. At the beginning of therapy, your therapist will review confidentiality rules to address any questions or concerns.

How much does Grouport online individual therapy cost?

Grouport’s pricing for individual online therapy is $112 per session. Attending four sessions per month results in a monthly total of $448, calculated by multiplying $112 by four sessions. Our rates are competitive for high-quality online therapy. Comparatively, outside of Grouport, a standard 45-minute individual therapy session in the United States usually costs between $150 and $200.

What are the payment options for individual therapy?

You can choose to pay your online therapy:
Monthly – Standard rate, billed every month.
Quarterly (Save 10%) – Billed every 3 months.
Biannually (Save 20%) – Billed every 6 months.

Your subscription will automatically renew based on the schedule you select. Some plans allow for sessions to occur weekly or every other week, depending on your specific goals and needs.

How does the cost of Grouport’s therapy compare to elsewhere?

Our mission is to provide therapy that is both accessible and affordable. Grouport’s pricing is well below the U.S. national average, and costs are averaged over time. This means that some months will have four sessions, and others may have five sessions at no extra cost because the typical month contains approximately 4.33 weeks.

Individual Therapy: Averages $103 per session ($448/month) (vs. $150-$200 per session elsewhere)

💡 Even More Savings:

  • Extra discounts when adding more sessions per week.

Pay quarterly (save 10%) or biannually (save 20%) for even lower rates

Do you take insurance for online individual therapy?

No, Grouport is out of network and does not currently take insurance. We work to keep therapy as affordable as possible, with individual 45-minute sessions costing $112 each. This is lower than the typical U.S. therapy session, which usually ranges from $150 to $200.

We can provide invoices for each billing cycle. You can submit these invoices to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. The reimbursement amount will vary according to your insurance provider, so it is advisable to confirm with your plan.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my billing at any time?

Yes! Plan adjustments are possible at any time. You can increase the number of sessions, reduce them, or choose a different billing cycle. All updates take effect immediately after making the change.

✅ Upgrading your plan

  •  Adding more sessions per week (e.g., 1 session/week → 2 sessions/week).
  • Switching to a longer billing cycle (e.g., Monthly → Quarterly).
  • You’ll be charged a prorated difference based on the time remaining in your current plan.

✅ Downgrading your plan

  •    Reducing the number of sessions per week (e.g., 3 sessions/week → 1 session/week).
  •    Switching to a shorter billing cycle (e.g., Quarterly → Monthly).
  •    This will result in a credit applied to your next renewal.

How do I cancel online individual therapy?

Your subscription can be canceled at any time; however, you must complete the billing period in progress. To cancel, please contact support@grouporttherapy.com to receive a form to complete your family’s membership cancellation. The cancellation is only valid once the form is submitted.
